In the Ming Dynasty, eunuch Lu Anning seeks the legendary Queen of Luodian's tomb to restore his manhood. After framing Grand Tutor Fu Yun'gao for treason, Fu's grandson Fu Xiaoyao escapes with half a treasure map to Dragon Gate Town. There he meets Jin Doudou, last saintess of Luodian, whose blood is the key to the elixir. Pursued by Lu's agents and betrayed by the courtesan Yan Pianpian, they decipher the map with a compass, survive desert mirages and tomb traps. Lu Anning forces them to lead him to the tomb, but the "elixir" is revealed to be ordinary Han artifacts—a queen's memorial to her homeland. As rain miraculously charts their return, Fu and Jin choose love over legacy in the desert.
